Owls Look For Its Second Consecutive Win Against Central Methodist University

Deckard looks to build off a game-high two assists while also adding three shots against Westminster College
FULTON, Mo. - The William Woods University women's soccer team will look for its second consecutive win of the season on Tuesday night, as they host Central Methodist University. Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m.

William Woods (1-2) is coming off a dominating home opening 7-0 shutout win on Sunday afternoon, against Westminster College, where the teams' offense totaled 38 shots on the day, as five Owls tallied a goal against the cross town rivals.

Jordan McNamara replicated her astounding performance from the 2013 meeting against WC, as she collected her second career hat-trick. She also added an assist and totaled a game-high 10 shots.

Senior, Ashley Deckard handed out two assists in the win, pushing her season total to a team-high three. The Granite City, Illinois, native, has also collected a third of the teams assist in the first three games of the season.

The offense was nearly unstoppable Sunday afternoon, as the team outshot the Blue Jays 21 -2 in the first frame and picked up right where it left off in the second half, scoring four goals and keeping Westminster off the board.

A trio of Owls also collected their first goal of the season in the win, which included Kaitlyn Wideman, Jaclyn Zilch and Jenna Vogt.

The Owls were led by McNamara, as she tied her career-high seven points, with three goals and one assist. Sarah Krispin and freshman, Jill Turner were second on the team in shots (four), while Deckard and Casey Kesselheim contributed three.

Saint Charles Community College transfer, Ashley Parisi, got her first start in the net as an Owl and recorded her first career shutout, collecting two saves.

In the 2013 match-up against Central Methodist University, WWU could not overcome a pair of early goals, as they fell to CMU 3-2.

The Eagles set the tone early in the game, as Lindie Adair sent a rocket shot past the Owls goalkeeper, giving CMU the early 1-0 advantage just a 1:48 into the game. Central Methodist struck again in the ninth minute, this time with a Nicki Noreen goal, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

McNamara got the Owls on the board in the 20th minute, as she was able to collect a ball that had ricocheted off CMU goalkeeper and put the ball into the open net, to cut the WWU deficit in half at 2-1.

CMU would then get an insurance goal in the 68th minute, with a Kelsey Vanzant goal, making it a 3-1 advantage for the Eagles.
WWU would respond with a goal of its own just seconds later, as Wideman found the back of the net, however, that was as close as the Owls would get, falling to CMU by one.

Central Methodist University is coming off a 9-7-2 record in 2013 and a 1-4-2 Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) record.

The Eagles are returning leading scorer sophomore, Nicki Noreen, who posted a team-high 12 goals on the season, but lost starting goalkeeper Meredith Brick, who collected 78 saves last year for CMU.

Central Methodist University is currently 3-0 on the 2014 season, as they have outscored their opponents 28-3.

On the season, Noreen leads the Eagles in goals (seven), shots (15) and points (16). Forward, Jac Greer also has contributed five goals, which is second best on the team, meanwhile, senior goaltender Sam Savio has recorded eight saves.

CMU is trying to capture its fourth consecutive win, while the Owls look to end the Eagles win streak Tuesday, by picking up its second win at Firley Field.
