FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team looks to capture its third American Midwest Conference win on Thursday night against conference newcomer, St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
Â
The Owls (5-10; 2-5 AMC) are coming off a key AMC victory last night, as the team defeated Harris-Stowe State University 65-56, thanks in large parts to guards
Jarett Boss and
Ryan Hill who combined for 31 points.
Â
After trading baskets in the first frame, WWU tried to get some momentum before going into the locker room, as Boss was the catalyst knocking down back-to-back baskets, giving WWU a 27-22 lead.
Â
However, HSSU would drain two free-throws and Tony Flagg would nail a two-pointer right before the buzzer sounded, cutting the Owls lead down to one as the first half ended with a 27-26 score in William Woods advantage.
Â
In the second half, the Hornets offense came out aggressive and while both teams swapped possessions, causing the score to be tied at four different occasions. HSSU, guard Markos Psimitis would give the Hornets its largest lead of the game, 42-37 with 13:00 minutes left to play.
Â
Then, after a steal, Boss would go down the court and convert into two points and then knock down a two-pointer in the Owls next possession, putting the Owls back on top, 52-45. Shortly after,
TaiRhe Turner would have a huge rebound and put back to give the Owls the energy the team needed to go up 54-45, as the team cruised to secure a nine point, 65-56 victory.
