FULTON, Mo.—The William Woods University women's soccer team will look to close out the 2015 regular season with its seventh consecutive win in front of the home crowd on Wednesday, as the Owls host Central Baptist College. Kick-off will start at 1 p.m.
The Owls (9-6-2; 7-3-1 AMC), picked up its sixth win in a row over Stephens College on October 23
rd, as the team defeated the Stars, 6-0. The team was dominant on offense and defense yet again, as offensively,
Jordan McNamara led the way with three goals, while
Shelby Scanlan assisted on four of the teams' six goals.
Scanlan's breakout game also tied a school record for most assists in a match, as Ashley Morgan contributed four assists back in 2008 against Harris-Stowe State.
During its last six games, the Owls have outscored its oppoents 20-4 and have been led by McNamara, as the Blue Springs, Missouri, native, has been on fire, scoring nine goals, which has pushed her season total up to 13.
Halle Schroeder has been a dual threat with McNamara, as she has totaled four goals, while Scanlan, to go along with her four assists, has added three goals on 19 shots.
In goal, the duo of
Ashley Parisi and
Rebecca Sturgess have combined for 39 saves, a save percentage of .909 and a goals against average of .667.
On the season, McNamara's 13 goals in 17 games are a team-high, which ranks her 34
th in the NAIA and she is one goal off her career-high she set last year in 22 games.
Schoreder, has added six goals and five assists, while Scanlan has scored four goals and totaled a team-high six assists.
Elyssa Cappaert, meanwhile, has also set a career-high for herself this season with five assists.
Parisi, has totaled 1044:50 minutes in goal, while her 91 saves places her 38
th overall in the NAIA. Sturgess, has just been effective in net, making 24 saves, while allowing just three goals in 437:00 minutes of action.
Currently in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) standings, the Owls have totaled 22 points, which places them fourth overall. The team is just three points behind Lyon College and one ahead of Lindenwood University-Belleville, who WWU has already defeated this season.
A win over Central Baptist College would give WWU its eighth conference win, which would tie the program record set last year.
The Lady Mustangs (1-13-1; 1-7-1 AMC), picked up its first win on the 2015 season in its last time out, as they defeated St. Louis College of Pharmacy, 2-1.
On the year, Central Baptist College, has totaled 16 goals and have been led by Tarra Hendricks, scoring a team-high five goals on 22 shots. Tatum Gombard and Peyton Turner are both tied with three goals, while Allyson Lamb has found the back of the net twice.
In goal, Kalynn Simpson has been impressive, as she has made an astounding 161 saves, which ranks her third in the NAIA, while her 12.38 saves per game, is second-best in the nation.
