FULTON, Mo.—Coming off an impressive 26-point victory over Lyon College, the William Woods University men's basketball team will look to get even at the .500 mark overall, when they host Central Baptist College on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off starts at 4 p.m. inside Anderson Arena.
The Owls (2-3; 1-0 AMC), dominated the Scots (2-2; 0-1 AMC), from start-to-finish, as they shot 50.0 percent from the floor, while defensively, they held Lyon to a field goal percentage of 29.6 and blocked nine of its shots.
Leading the way for WWU was
Austin Lowery, who netted a season-high 19 points off the bench, while 15 of his points came from beyond-the-arc.
Bryan DeGeare, meanwhile, totaled 11 points, nine boards and a team-high three blocks.
Deon Pettigrew contributed nine points and two blocks, while
Kevin House added eight and a game-high five assists.
On the season, the Owls are putting up 76.6 points per game, while shooting 44.2 percent from the floor, 70.1 percent from the charity-stripe and have totaled 191 rebounds.
House, an Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, native, is averaging a team-high 13.2 points, while shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and 81.8 percent from the field. He has also dished out a team-high 31 assists, which places him 14
th overall in the nation.
Pettigrew, is scoring 12.0 points per game and owns a field goal percentage of 46.8, to go along with his team-high 10 steals. DeGeare, is third on the team in points per game (11.8), but leads the Owls with 38 rebounds and eight blocks, which puts him inside the top 30 in the NAIA.
With his 19-point outburst against the Scots, Lowery, upped his season average to 10.8 points, while from the floor, he is hitting 52.8 percent of his shots and continues to be a threat from downtown, as he is 11-of-24 (45.8 percent).
Defensively, WWU, is holding teams' to a 74.4 point per game average, while opponents are hitting just 40.6 percent of its shots and have seen 27 of its shots blocked. The Owls are averaging 5.4 blocks per game, which is fifth best in the NAIA, while its 27 blocks, are 12
th best overall.
Looking to find success inside Anderson Arena on Saturday afternoon, will be a Central Baptist College (3-1; 0-1 AMC) team, which is coming off a tough 87-54 defeat against No. 16-ranked Columbia College on Thursday.
The Mustangs, shot 30.0 percent from the floor and were led by Fred Albright, who totaled a team-high 13 points on 6-of-14 shooting and added six rebounds. Mon'Darrius Benson, was the final Mustang player to reach double-figures, as he totaled 11 points off the bench.
On the year, CBC, is averaging 85.8 points per game and are led by Albright's 15.0 points per game average. He is also shooting 47.1 percent from the floor and is second on the team with 24 rebounds.
Jayln McBride, owns a 12.3 scoring average and leads the Mustangs from downtown, as he is hitting 53.3 percent of his attempts. Another player the Owls will need to keep an eye out for is Mike Evans, who leads the Mustangs with a field goal percentage of 51.9 and has grabbed down 27 boards.
