FULTON, Mo.—For the sixth consecutive season, the William Woods University women's soccer team will be hosting the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Quarterfinals at Firley Field on Friday night, as the Owls host the No. 5-seeded Lindenwood University-Belleville Lady Lynx. Kick-off off starts 7 p.m.
The Owls (10-6-2; 8-3-1 AMC), earned the No. 4 seed in the AMC Tournament, thanks in large part to the team closing out the regular season on a seven-game winning streak.
During its last seven games, WWU has outscored its opponents 30-4 and have been led by senior
Jordan McNamara, who scored 12 goals and added three assists.
Halle Schroeder, a Granite City, Illinois, native, has totaled seven goals and four assists, while
Shelby Scanlan and
Renee Meyer have both found the back of the net twice.
The team has tallied 33 assists to go along with those 30 goals and are led by
Elyssa Cappaert having a team-high six. Scanlan and Schroeder have each added four, while Meyer, McNamara and
Mackenzie Cork have contributed three.
On the season, McNamara, a Blue Springs, Missouri, native, leads has totaled a career-high 16 goals in 18 games, which ranks her 22
nd in the NAIA. Schroeder, has scored a goal in the last five games, including three in the regular season finale against Central Baptist College.
Meyer, scored two goals against CBC, which pushed her season total to five, while Scanlan has four goals on the year.
In net, the duo of
Ashley Parisi and
Rebecca Sturgess, have combined for 118 saves, a save percentage of .819 and a goals against average of 1.44.
Parisi, a senior, owns a goals against average of 1.90, while making 91 saves in 16 starts. Sturgess, meanwhile, has appeared in 11 games, making 25 saves and has allowed just three goals.
The last time these two teams' met-up was back on October 21
st at Firley Field, where the Owls were able to hang on for the 3-2 victory.
After trailing 2-1, McNamara scored her second of the game in the 42
nd minute, which tied the score up at 2-2. Then, at the 50:45 mark, Schroeder netted the game-winner, off an assist from Cappaert and WWU was able to hang on the rest of the way for the win.
Lindenwood-Belleville (10-8; 7-4 AMC), ended the regular season dropping four out of its last five games, including falling 5-4 to Park University in the finale.
On the year, the Lady Lynx have totaled 44 goals, with Jessika Stiehr and Blanca Gomez each having 11. Raven Loughridge has scored seven goals, while Casey Wood has added five.
In net, Luisa Santillan, has started in nine games, making 28 saves, while allowing just 13 goals (1.63 GAA). Loughridge has also made seven starts and collected 39 saves in 630:00 minutes played.
