BATESVILLE, Ark. – The William Woods University men's basketball team looks for redemption against Lyon College, as the team begins its road series of the week paying the Scots a visit Thursday night. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

In the Owls(8-14; 5-9 AMC) last outing, the team couldn't over come a cold shooting second half, as the team fell to Williams Baptist College, 73-57 last Saturday evening. WWU came out of the gate with momentum, as junior
Austin Lowery gave the team a spark offensively, hitting three three-pointers in the first half.

WWU, however then had a cold spell, which allowed WBC to go on a 9-0 run, taking the lead. Although, the Owls stayed determined to claw back one basket at a time for the remainder of the first frame, with .5 seconds on the board, the Owls would grab a rebound and quickly get the ball up the court to
Jarett Boss, who was set up on the wing and would sink a three pointer at the buzzer. The basket would give WWU the 38-37 lead heading into the locker room.

Despite the valiant effort in the first half, the Owls came out in the second half going cold from the floor, while the Eagles scored the first eight points of the half, putting together a 8-0 run that pushed WBC lead up to seven, 45-38.

At the 9:53 mark, William Woods come get within one of the Eagles, after a two point field goal from
Derrick Hayes, making the score 57-56 still in the favor of WBC.
That would be as close as the Owls would get, as WBC would control the rest of the final frame of the game, going on a 13-1 run to secure the 73-57 victory over WWU.

Lowery, the St. Charles native, ended the night recording a career-high 20 points, on 7-of-11 shooting and 4-of-7 from downtown. Bitner, was also hot from the three point line, as the senior totaled 12 points on the night, all coming from beyond the arc, while Hayes chipped in six points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

On the season,
DJ Johnson and
Ryan Hill are pacing the Owls offensively, as both are averaging 10.4 points per game, while Hill is shooting a team-high 50 percent from the field and Johnson leads the team on the boards, totaling 109 on the season. Senior,
Nate Bitner has pushed his average to 9.0 points per game, shooting a 42 percent from the field.

Back on December 18
th these two teams meet up inside Anderson Arena, where the Owls dropped a heartbreaker in the final minutes, as Lyon College defeated WWU 45-42.

In the match-up, both teams had a hard tome getting the basketball to go through the net, shooting well underneath their average percent from the field and only recording 11 free-throws in the first frame combined.

Johnson, led the Owls with 12 points and eight rebounds, where all of his points came in the second half of the game, while three other Owl players ended the night with five points apiece, who included
Klayton Kuschel,
Jerel Wilhite and Hill.

Lyon College is currently 13-9 on the season and 10-5 in American Midwest Conference play. The Scots are coming off an impressive 83-47 victory over Missouri Baptist University last Saturday night, a win that put the team in a two way tie for fourth place in the AMC.

The Owls look to jump to 6-9 in conference play and climb up in the standings, while handing LC its sixth conference loss on the year.
