FULTON, Mo. – The (RV) William Woods University baseball team returns to action tomorrow afternoon as the team hosts American Midwest Conference foe Williams Baptist College in a key three-game series this weekend. The series will open on Friday with a nine inning match-up starting at 3:00 p.m. and concludes on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
William Woods(15-5; 3-2 AMC) are coming off two huge wins in dominating fashion earlier this week, that saw the team's offense come to life after dropping two games against Lyon College last weekend. In these last two games, the Owls amassed 22 runs on 19 hits, while only giving up four runs.
This past Tuesday, the Owls cruised by Culver-Stockton College 8-1 with a season-high 15 hits, as
Austin Clapp led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 from the plate and adding a game-high three RBI.
Alex St. Pierre, a Charleston, South Carolina, native, also swung the bat well, as he went 3-for-5 with one run scored. SeniorÂ
Nick Spagnola led the Owls in hits (four), in five plate appearances and added two runs scored. Â

Stephen Kohler went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while leadoff hitterÂ
Larry Price went 2-for-3 and scored once for WWU.Â
Konrad Kemper, meanwhile, went 1-for-5, but contributed two RBI.

On the mound, starterÂ
Kyle Marburger put in a strong outing for WWU, as he went 4.1 innings, allowing one run (zero earned) on three hits and struck out six. The win, however, went to relieverÂ
Ryan Yuengel, as the senior hurler tossed two scoreless innings and struck out one.

James Ball closed out the final 2.2 innings, as they combined to allow just three hits, while striking out five Wildcats.Â
On the season, offensively, the Owls have five players batting .300 or above, which includes
Alex St. Pierre (.396), Spagnola (.356), Clapp (.338), Price (.317) and
Cody Stewart (.314). Spagnola, leads the way with 26 hits in 78 at-bats, while
Jordan Dey has been a key impact in the cleanup position, totaling a team-high 20 RBI's and six home runs.
On the mound, the Owls have a team ERA of 1.99, as the pitching staff has totaled 179 strikeouts this season.
Ryan Yuengel holds an ERA of 0.53, as the senior has collected three wins and two saves in 17 innings pitched, while tallying 23 strikeouts. John Caveness also has been an impact for WWU on the hill, earning an ERA of 2.17 in 29 innings of work, while recording a team-high 32 strikeouts.
Williams Baptist College comes into the series with a 6-10 overall record on the season and are 2-2 in AMC play. In the Eagles last outing, the team split a doubleheader against Benedictine University at Springfield, winning the first game 6-4, then dropping the second 11-5 this past Monday.
For the Eagles, Ryan Shleton leads the way in several categories, which includes going .426 from the dish, totaling 20 hits and 13 RBI's on the season. Braxton Rhodes has also been hot from the plate hitting a .385 and recording a team-high six doubles. On the hill, Ethan Quarles has done most the work, pitching 25 innings on the season, while earning a 5.33 ERA and team-high 17 strike outs, as he has picked up two wins and two losses on the season.
