ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The William Woods University women's soccer team will look to reach the .500 mark in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play on Wednesday afternoon, as the Owls pay a visit to Missouri Baptist University. Kick-off starts at 12 p.m.
The Owls (3-5-1; 1-2 AMC), are coming off a tough 2-0 loss in its last time out against Culver-Stockton College, back on September 23
rd. Prior to that game against the Wildcats, the offense was starting to hit its stride, as against Southwestern Christian and St. Louis College of Pharmacy, the Owls outscored its opponents 8-1 and held a shot advantage of 38-11.
On the season, WWU, has scored 10 goals and have been led by senior
Jordan McNamara, as the Blue Springs, Missouri, native, has totaled a team-high three goals and added two assists for eight points.
Renee Meyer has found the back of the net twice as well, while
Shelby Scanlan,
Jaclyn Zilch,
Hailey LaCroix,
Elyssa Cappaert and
Mackenzie Cork have netted one goal each.
Halle Schroeder, meanwhile, leads the team with three assists.
In net,
Ashley Parisi continues to have a standout 2015 season, as she has made 55 saves in 594:50 minutes of action, while owning a save percentage of .755 and a goals against average of 2.42. She continues to be ranked in the top 25 in saves, as she currently sits in 23
rd overall with those 55 saves.
Last season, when these two teams' met up, they tied 1-1 (2OT) during the regular season, then met up again in the AMC Championship and the Owls were able to collect its second AMC Tournament Title, defeating the Spartans in penalty kicks (4-3).
This season, MBU (2-5; 2-0 AMC), is coming off a 2-1 defeat against Trinity International, back on September 26
th. The team is undefeated in conference play, as they have gathered a 4-0 win against Stephens College and a 1-0 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange University.
On the season, the Spartans have totaled nine goals and are led by Taylor Giese and Megan Allen, as the duo has accounted for a combined six goals.
In goal, Alexandra Lair leads a trio of goaltenders, as in five appearances, she has made 44 saves and allowed 13 goals in just over 435:00 minutes of work.
