FULTON, Mo. – After falling 88-86, in the final seconds to Missouri Baptist University on Thursday night, the No. 25 ranked William Woods University men's basketball team looks to bounce back with another American Midwest Conference (AMC) match-up against Harris-Stowe State University on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
The Owls (14-8: 10-4 AMC), are on the bridge of making program history, with one more win the Owls will have set a new single season record with 15 wins on the season. WWU had a setback on reaching this accomplishment Thursday night, by falling in heart breaking fashion to the Spartans, however, the team looks to respond on Saturday night to fulfill this achievement in front of its home crowd.
Looking at the numbers, WWU shoot the ball well enough to capture the victory over the Spartans, ending the night shooting 44.7 from the field and 40.0 percent from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, MBU closed the night with even better eye popping numbers, connecting on 55.4 percent of their shots from the floor and 44.4 percent from the three point line.

Kevin House followed with 15 points and handed out seven assists. Followed byÂ
Trey Mitchell contributing 10 points, as both coming off the bench,Â
DJ Johnson and
Keith Jackson, scoring 14 points and 11 points, respectively.
On the season, Pettigrew leads the team offensively, averaging 15.4 points per game, shooting 43.8 percent from field and gathering a team-high 142 rebounds. House, WWU senior guard has consistently been an offensive force for the Owls, pushing his season average up to 15.0 points per game and leading the team shooting 54.4 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc, while complying 113 assists on the year, which is tied for second best in the AMC.
Austin Lowery and
DJ Johnson are two other players that own a double digit season average, both scoring a little over 10.0 points per game, as Lowery is posting 11.7 ppg and Johnson comes in right behind Lowery with 10.9 ppg.
Harris-Stowe State University enters Saturday's game with a 10-12 overall record and 6-8 record in the AMC. Currently, the Hornets are riding a four game skid, however, in HSSU last outing, the team was just one point away of pulling the huge upset against the No. 4 ranked and conference leaders, Columbia College, falling 84-83 (2OT).
Dominic Phillips leads the way for HSSU offensively on the season, posting 16.1 points per game, on 39.2 percent shooting from the field, while leading the team in assists (79) and steals (39). Jalen Fletcher is another player the Owls will have to keep an eye on, as the forward is averaging 13.0 points per game and owning a team-high 101 rebounds on the year.
Earlier this year, when these two teams met up, the Owls had to battle to escape St. Louis, Missouri with the 90-77 win over the Hornets, while Pettigrew had a break out night, scoring 31 points to help the Owls.
