FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team plays its first home games of the season on Friday, February 26th and Sunday, February 28th when they host Northwestern College and Ashford University in two double-headers. First pitch of both contests are at 12 p.m.

After playing the first 13 contests on the road, the Owls (7-5) finally get to play at home when they host two non-conference doubleheaders this Friday and Sunday. William Woods is coming off an 18-3 loss to Doane College in a neutral site contest.The Owls are in action on Thursday at College of the Ozarks with first pitch happening at 2 p.m.

Last weekend the Owls competed in the Joplin Tournament, and went 3-2 on the weekend. The Owls lost their last game of the weekend to Doane. With the game tied at 3-3 in the top of the fifth inning the Tigers of Doane broke the game open by scoring 15 runs in the top of the frame.
Jordan Dey led the Owls with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate and drove in one run.

On Saturday in Joplin,
John Cavness threw his second complete game of the year as the Owls shutout Midland, 8-0. In the shutout, Cavness only allowed five hits and struck out five in the contest.

On the season the Owls are batting .294 on the season, collecting 97 hits, with 17 extra base hits. WWU has scored 62 runs this season, with 17 runs coming in the fourth inning.
Jordan Dey leads the team with a .429 batting average and he has driven in a team-high eight runs. Dey has 15 hits on the season and seven of those 15 hits have been doubles.

On the mound,
John Cavness leads the pitching staff with a 2-0 record and 18 and two thirds innings pitched. He has an ERA of 2.41, 19 strikeouts and in his three starts, he has two complete games.
Ryan Phillips is the only other pitcher on the staff with two wins on the season.
Jacob Guilianelli has made two starts this season picking up one win and leads the Owls with an ERA of 1.17.
Northwestern Red Raiders enter this week with a record of 2-2 on the season after splitting a four game set with College of the Ozarks. The Red Raiders offense is led by Zach Cortese, who leads the team in batting averaging as he is hitting .600 on the season. He has nine hits in his 15 at bats this season. Christian Hamett leads the Red Raiders in RBIs on the season as he has drove in four runs and is hitting .385 on the season.

On the mound, Northwestern holds a team ERA of 7.62 on the season. Raphael DeHoyos leads the pitching staff as he pitched a complete game shutout in his lone start of the season. He only allowed two hits while striking out four. Grant Lang picked up the only other win for the Red Raiders this season with a six inning outing where he allowed two earned runs.

The Owls will also face Ashford University on Sunday at home. The Saints come into this weekend with an 0-4 record and are hitting .179 on the season. Leading the team is Jean Carlos Peralta who is hitting .500 on the season. He has five hits on the season, three of which are doubles. Offensively, Ashford as scored three runs on the season and have been outscored by 30 runs.

On the mound, the Saints hold a team ERA of 9.35 and have allowed 31 hits in their four games this year. Kane Klais leads the pitching staff with an ERA of 1.80. In Klais lone start this season he went five innings and only allowed three hits.Â
