Box Score POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – Late inning runs came back to hurt the William Woods University Baseball team as they led 2-0 heading to the bottom of the eighth inning but College of the Ozarks battled back, scoring three runs in the last two innings to defeat WWU, 3-2.

Game SummaryMaking his first start of the season
Caleb Bounds kept the Bobcats bats quiet for the majority of the contest. Through seven innings he only allowed College of the Ozarks two hits and only allowed two runners on base for the Bobcats.

The Owls offense came to play as they scored the first run in the contest in the top of the first inning. With one out and a runner on first,
Jansen Smith doubled to left center putting runs on second and third.
Jordan Dey followed with a ground out scoring one and putting WWU ahead, 1-0. Smith was stranded on third and after the top of the first WWU lead 1-0.

After the Owls scored in the top of the first, both offenses were quiet as College of the Ozarks only mustered two hits in the first seven innings. In the top of the sixth, William Woods added to its lead.
Larry Price led off the inning with a double and then advanced to third. He was still on third with two outs in the inning when Dey came to the plate. Dey singled thru the hole at shortstop scoring Price and putting the Owls ahead 2-0.

After the sixth inning the Owls bats went quiet as they did not record another hit for the contest, while the Bobcats offense started coming to life. In the bottom of the eighth inning, College of the Ozarks scored two runs on one hit and took advantage of an WWU error tying the game at 2-2.

The Owls had the leadoff hitter reach base in the top of the ninth but the next three Owls hitters were retired in order. In the bottom of the ninth the Bobcats score one to break the tie and win the game. Dylan Heitz singled to shallow right to lead off the inning. Tad Mitchell eared on an error, which put runners on second and third. Â After an intentional walk to load the bases, William Woods got a force out at home. The next batter struck out swinging for the second out of the inning. It looked as if the Owls would get out of the inning but Kole Kelley singled to deep right field scoring the winning run and ending the game.
