No. 19 Owls Knock off No. 25 Ottawa

Box Score OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The no. 19 William Woods University defeated No. 25 Ottawa University, 8-1, on Friday afternoon at the Overland Park Racquet Club. This is the third ranked team the Owls have defeated this year.
 
William Woods won all three doubles matches on the day as Paige Smith and Julia Mulder defeated Danika Good and Kimisha Peterson, 8-2. The next matched that finished was No. 3 doubles where Alba Salinas and Felicia Cesar defeated Madeline Bellew and Taylor Laures, 8-2. Doubles when Chelsea Steward and Karyna Sagalai defeated Allison Corfield and Jennifer Luedtke, 8-3.
 
The Owls continued to dominated in singles action as they claimed five-of the six singles matches.
 
Felicia Cesar (No. 3), Alba Salinas (No. 4) and Julia Mulder (No. 6) both won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, over Madeline Bellew, Taylor Larues, and Stephanie Rodriguez.
 
Chelsea Steward defeated Lexis Hibbs in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Also, winning for the Owls was Paige Smith, 6-1, 6-1.
 
The lone point for Ottawa came in the No. 2 singles. Allison Corfield of Ottawa defeated Karyna Sagalai, 6-1, 6-1.
 
The Owls return to action on Saturday, March 19th when they play Southwestern College at 10:30 a.m. in Grain Valley, Mo.
