Women’s Tennis Wins Fourth Straight Match

Box Score GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. – The William Woods University Women's Tennis team won its fourth straight match on Saturday afternoon when they defeated Southwestern College, 8 -1.
 
In the last NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the Moundbuilders of Southwestern were receiving votes. William Woods has only played one team this year who were not ranked.
 
With the win Women's Tennis improves to 5-1 on the season
 
The Owls jumped made quick work of each doubles match on Saturday morning as the team of Felicia Cesar and Alba Salinas won in No. 3 doubles, 8-0. Taking the second point of the day for the Owls was No. 1 doubles of Chelsea Steward and Karyna Sagalai as they won 8-1. WWU took the last doubles page with Paige Smith and Julia Mulder, 8-2, as they played in No. 2 doubles.
 
WWU continued to play well as they dropped only one singles match of the day. In singles action, the Owls won singles 2-6. Sagalias won in no. 2 singles 7-6, 6-0. Cesar won in third singles, 6-0, 6-1. Salinas claimed the win in fourth singles 6-4, 6-0. Steward (6-0, 6-2) and Mulder (6-3, 6-0), won fifth and sixth singles.
 
The Moundbuilder took No. 1 singles as Morgan Hughes defeated Smith, 6-4, 6-4,
 
T1he Owls return to action on Tuesday, March, 22 when they host NCAA Division II Maryville University at the Suzanne Memorial Tennis Complex.
