Box Score 2 FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University Baseball team split an American Midwest Conference (AMC) double-header on Saturday afternoon. The Owls dropped game one, 11-5, before rebounding for a game two win, 6-4. The win for the Owls handed Lyon its first conference loss of the season.

The Owls and Scots return to action Sunday, March, 20th when they conclude their three-game set. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.

Game One
Game FlowThe Owls came out soaring as they set the Scots down in order in the first and when they came up to bat, scored four runs on four hits. With runners on second and third,
Jordan Dey singled home one. After a walk loaded the bases,
Matt Priest hit a sacrifice fly scoring another run for the Owls.
Anthony Davison came up with the big two run RBI single putting the Owls ahead, 4-0.

WWU starter
John Cavness was in control starting the game as he retired the first six batters of the game for the Scots. In the Top of the second inning, Cavness struck out the last two hitters of the inning. William Woods added another run in the bottom of the second inning when
Tanner Wetrich scored on a wild pitch.

Heading into the top of the third inning the Owls led 5-0, however, the top of the third inning Lyon's bats came to life. The Scots got to Owls starter in the frame as he did not make it out of the inning and he gave up seven earned runs in the inning. After the third inning, the Owls trailed 7-5.

Lyon's starter Cole Ragsdale settled down after allowing five earned runs in the first two innings as he did not allow the Owls to score again in the contest. The Owls did not collect another hit after the second inning of the contest and the Scots added to their lead and won game one, 11-5.

Game Two
Game FlowThe Owls jumped out to a quick start in game two, as
Jacob Guilianelli made quick work of the Scots in the first inning. The Owls jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after RBI singles by
Jordan Dey and Patrick Dillon.

The game remained 2-0 until the bottom of the third inning of the contest.
Ryan Phillips singled home the third run of the game, extending the lead to 3-0.

Guilianelli continued to dominate as he kept the Scots bats off balance as he went six innings of actions only allowing one hit in six innings of work. During his six innings of work he struck out five batters en route to picking up the win.

Phillips picked up his second RBI of the game when he singled doubled home
Matt Priest. An inning later, the Owls grew the lead to 5-0 after
Tanner Wetrich doubled home a run. The Owls offense was not done as they added one more run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Leading 6-0 over the Scots, offense slowly started coming to life as the plated one in the top of the eighth inning. Lyon kept the Owls off balance in the eighth and the Lyons came back to bat in the top of the ninth. The Scots came up and continued to battle as they scored three runs in the top of the ninth. The Scots had the bases loaded when
Blake Novack came in and recorded the final out of the game and leaving three runners on base for the Scots. The Owls claimed the 6-4 victory.
