Box Score ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The William Woods University Women's Tennis team won its fifth straight contest on Monday afternoon when they defeated NCAA Division II Lindenwood University, 7-2. The win for the Owls is its sixth win of the season. 
"The girls did great today," said head coach 
Lauren Meier. "Their overall energy and support as a team was great and I feel with every match they have learned and grown as a team and I am very proud of them for that."
The Owls gained the first point of the match as no. 3 doubles of 
Felicia Cesar and 
Alba Salinas came away with an 8-0 win over Lindenwoods no. 3 doubles team. The Owls extended its lead to 2-0 after the no. 2 doubles team of 
Julia Mulder and 
Paige Smith won, 8-4. William Woods dropped one point in doubles action as 
Chelsea Steward and 
Karyna Sagalai were defeated in no. 1 doubles, 8-4. 
The Owls only dropped one point in singles action as Smith was defeated by Anna Barrasheva in straight sets. 
WWU answered back by winning the rest of the singles matches. Steward (No. 5) won her match, 6-2, 6-0, while Salinas won 6-0, 6-2, giving the Owls a 4-2 lead in the match. Cesar clinched the win for the Owls in No. 3 singles as she won 6-4, 6-0, over Clara Piccamiglio. 
Sagalai and Mulder had its work cut out for them as they won in a tiebreaker. Sagalai, playing in no. 2 singles dropped the first set 4-6. She responded in the second set, winning 6-4, and she went on to win the tiebreaker 10-3. Mulder won her first set in No. 6 singles, 6-2, prior to falling 4-6. Mulder and Alexias McCarthy battled in the tiebreaker by Mulder came away with a 13-11 victory. 
The Owls return to action Tuesday, March, 22nd when they host NCAA Division II Maryville University at the Suzanne Memorial Tennis Complex. Match starts at 4 p.m.
