Box Score BRUNSWICK, Ga. – The William Woods University Women's Tennis team won its ninth straight contest on Thursday afternoon, as they defeated College of Coastal Georgia, 7-2.
The Owls scored the first point of the match when
Julia Mulder and
Alba Salinas defeated Samantha Lasslett and Lindsey Lawing, 8-2. The Mariners tied the match at 1-1 after Daniella Caruso and Emy Alplund defeated
Chelsea Steward and
Felicia Cesar, 8-6. The Owls claimed No. 3 doubles as Coastal Georgia did not field a team.
Coastal Georgia tied the match at 2-2 after Daniella Caruso defeated
Abigail Lemberger in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
After dropping No. 1 singles, the Owls responded by winning the rest of the matches. Salinas won in No. 4 singles as she defeated Lawing, 6-0, 6-3.
Karyna Sagalai defeated Alplund, 6-3, 6-2. Cesar followed winning No. 3 singles over Lasslett, 7-6, 6-0.
William Woods took No. 5 and No. 6 singles as Coastal Georgia failed to field athletes. With the win for the Owls, William Woods improved to 10-1 on the season.
The Owls return to action Friday, April 1st when they travel to Savannah, Ga. to face SCAD-Savannah. The match starts at 9 a.m.
