William Woods Baseball Splits With Harris-Stowe

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University Baseball team split a doubleheader with Harris-Stowe State University on Saturday afternoon. The Owls took game one, 4-0, before dropping game two, 8-6.
 
Game One
A strong pitching performance from Ryan Phillips led the Owls to a 4-0 victory over the Hornets in game one. Phillips threw a complete game shutout, the second shutout of the Owls on the season. The win for Phillips gives him four wins on the season.
 
Not only did Phillips keep the Hornets bats quiet but Phillips also led the Owls at the plate in the first game. Phillips went 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in three runs in the win for the Owls.
 
Game Two
In game two, Jessie Remington pitched four and two thirds inning and allowed two runs (one earned) in the game. In the top of the first inning the Owls bats got off to a quick start as they scored four runs keyed by a Jordan Dey two run double.
 
After the first inning, the Owls bats started going quietly and the Hornets bats started coming to life. Harris-Stowe scored eight runs in the contest and scored two runs off Blake Novack who got the loss for William Woods as the Owls dropped game one, 8-6.
 
The Owls return to action on Friday March 11 when they Missouri Baptist University in AMC action. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. on Friday.
