Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – After defeating then No. 23 Evangel University, the William Woods University women's tennis team's second match did not go as well, as No. 6 William Carey University Crusaders defeated William Woods, 8-1. 
"The girl's had a tough one today but I believe we will be able to bounce back and bring our A game tomorrow," said head coach 
Lauren Meier. "This was a great match for the team to experience and see what exactly we will need to compete with in order to make the national championship." 
Like the first match of the season for the Owls, WWU fell behind early as they dropped all three double matches on Saturday. William Carey took third doubles first as 
Julia Mulder and 
Abigail Lemberger were defeated 8-3. 
Chelsea Steward and 
Alba Salinas lost 8-2 in No. 1 doubles. In the closest doubles match for William Woods was No. 2 doubles of 
Paige Smith and 
Felicia Cesar but they were defeated 8-4. 
The Owls day did not get much better in singles action as William Woods dropped five of the six singles matches. The only win for the Owls came in six singles as Mulder defeated Lorena Rouillon Jemenez. Mulder took set one, 6-1 before dropping 6-7 (4) and taking the super tiebreaker 11-9. This was the lone point for the Owls in the match. 
WWU dropped one through five singles on the day. Below are the results from today's match. 
The Owls return to action on Sunday, March 6 when they take on Xavier (La.) in New Orleans at 10 a.m.
