Box Score FULTON, Mo. – The No. 11 William Woods University Women's Tennis team got back into the win column on Wednesday afternoon when they defeated Missouri Valley College, 5-1.
 
The Owls got off to a fast start as they took all three doubles matches. Paige Smith and Karyna Sagalai defeated Macarena Bielsa and Adela Gil, 8-2, taking the first point for the Owls. Chelsea Steward and Julia Mulder followed by winning No. 2 doubles, 8-4, over Lilian Blasque and Beatriz Sales. The Owls added to its lead in No. 3 doubles, as Felicia Cesar and Alba Salinas defeated Christina Fergason and Jelica Stamatovic, 8-1.
 
The Vikings took its first point in No. 1 singles as Lilian Blasque defeated Paige Smith, 7-5, 6-2. After Missouri Valley scored its one point, the Vikings did not gain another point.
 
Steward claimed the Owls fourth point of the match when she won No. 3 singles. Steward defeated Adela Gil, 6-1, 6-0. Karyna Sagalai won the match for the Owls as she defeated Maca Bieslsa in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 7-5.
 
The match was called after the Owls clinched the match.
 
The Owls return to action on Friday when they travel to Belleville, Ill. when they face Baker University and Saint Louis College of Pharmacy.
