Box Score CONWAY, Ark. – The William Woods University baseball team dropped the opening game of a three game set to Central Baptist College, 14-4, in seven innings on Friday evening. The loss drops the Owls to 11-11 in American Midwest Conference action and two games behind Central Baptist.

William Woods and Central Baptist return to action tomorrow to conclude its three game set with a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.

Game Flow
After a scoreless first inning of action the Owls got on the board in the top of the second inning. Patrick Dillion reached on a walk and advanced to second on a Mustangs error. After a sacrifice bunt moved the runners up a base,
Matt Priest drove in Dillon on a ground out to short putting the Owls ahead, 1-0.

William Woods lead did not last long as Central Baptist got to Owls starter
John Cavness in the second inning. The Mustangs recorded back-to-back-back singles off Cavness and the third single scored Central Baptist first run of the game. The second and third run came on a Deonta Howard single putting the Mustangs ahead 3-1.

The Owls answered back in the third inning. With one out,
Anthony Davison singled up the middle.
Ryan Phillips followed with a double putting two runners in scoring position. After the Owls second out of the inning, Dillon singled up the middle scoring one. Jansen smith followed with another single scoring another tying the game at 3-3.

However, the Mustangs pulled away from the Owls in the bottom of the third. Central Baptist scored two runs in the inning. After the Owls could not get anything going in the fourth but the Mustangs continued to add to its lead. Central Baptist added four more in the fourth inning extending its lead to 9-3. Three of four runs for the Mustangs came on a three run home run by Austin Kuchinski.

Central Baptist's offense continued to click in the sixth inning as they scored five runs in the inning extending its lead to 14-3 in the sixth inning.

The Owls needed to score two runs in the seventh inning to keep the game going or be mercy ruled.
Tanner Wetrich reached base on an error. After an out, Davison grounded out moving Wetrich to second base. Wetrich scored on a Phillips single, however, that would be all the Owls would get in the inning and the Mustangs take game one, 14-4, in seven innings over the Owls.
