Box Score 2 OLATHE, Kan. – The William Woods University Women's Tennis team defeated Baker University and Missouri Valley College, en route to winning the NAIA Unaffiliated Group Tournament (American Midwest/Heart of American) Championship.
The Owls defeated the Wildcats of Baker University, 5-0, in the semifinals and the Vikings of Missouri Valley College, 5-0, in the championship.
Semifinals vs. Baker
The Owls wasted little time advancing to the Conference Tournament Championship game as they defeated Baker University, 5-0, in the semifinals.
The Owls took all three doubles matches taking a 3-0.
Alba Salinas and
Felicia Cesar were the first victory for the Owls by winning 8-1 in No. 3 doubles.
Julia Mulder and
Chelsea Steward claimed the second point for the Owls with an 8-4, victory over Jamie Myers and Morgan Francis.
The last doubles match
Karyna Sagalai and
Paige Smith defeated Brooke Barnard and Holly Chestnut, 8-2, in No. 1 doubles.
William Woods claimed the match by winning No. 6 and No. 4 singles. Mulder took No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1, over Amy Wysong. Salinas clinched the match for the Owls with a 6-1, 6-0, victory over Morgan Francis. The win improved the Owls to 16-2 on the season and advanced them to the Championship match.
Championship vs. Missouri Valley
The Owls improved to 17-2 on the season after defeating Missouri Valley College, 5-0, in the Championship Match. By winning the Championship match, the Owls have clinched an automatic berth into the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship.

Felicia Cesar won the first point for the championship match as they won 8-0, in No. 3 doubles.
Chelsea Steward and
Julia Mulder followed winning No. 2 doubles, 8-2, taking a 2-0 lead. The lead was extended to 3-0 after
Paige Smith and
Karyna Sagalai won 8-1 in No. 1 doubles.
Like the semifinals, the Owls clinched the match by winning No. 6 and No. 4 singles.
Julia Mulder won 6-1, 6-1, in No. 6 singles for the fourth point of the match. For the second match in a row, Salinas clinched the win for the Owls as she won, 6-1, 6-1, in No 4 singles.
