Women’s Soccer Takes on Columbia in the AMC Championship

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team travels to Columbia, Missouri to face Columbia College in the American Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Finals on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m.
 
About the Owls
- WWU enters the AMC Championship match with a record of 13-4-3 on the season
- William Woods advanced to the Championship after defeating Park University in penalty kicks (7-6)
- The Owls rank 12th in the nation with 53 assists on the season
- Shelby Scanlan ranks 17th in the nation with 20 goals scored this season. She has scored 45 points, which is 18th best in the NAIA
- Aurora Henriksen has dished out nine assists to lead the Owls, which ranks her 40th in the NAIA
- WWU has scored a total of 60 goals which is the 20th best mark in the nation
- Rebecca Sturgess has recorded 81 saves on the season. She is averaging 4.26 saves per game, which leads the Owls
- The Owls have recorded 10 shutouts this season, which is the 20th most in the NAIA
- WWU has three players that have scored over 10 goals this season. Besides, Scanlan who has 20, Aurora Henriksen has 13 goals and Claire Stark has 12 goals on the season
- WWU has outshot its opponents 378 to 209 on the season
 
About the Cougars
- Columbia enters the AMC Championship match with a record of 19-1 on the season
- They are coming off a 4-1 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville on Monday in the AMC Semifinals
- The Cougars lone loss of the season came to the Owls on October 10th
- Columbia ranks first in the nation in shots per game (27.6) and shutouts (16) on the season
- The Cougars rank second in the nation in shots on goal per game (14.4), assists (83), and goals (100)
 -Laurie Frew ranks second in the nation in assists with 17 on the season. She also leads the Cougars in goals with 23 goals on the season, the ninth best mark in the NAIA
- Columbia has four players who have scored over 10 goals on the season. Frew leads with 23, Kelsey Mirts has scored 18, Molly Klein has scored 15 and Lucy Kingsley has scored 10 goals
- Madison Boyken leads the Cougars in goal as she as appeared and started 16 games this season. She has made 24 saves and only allowed three goals
- Columbia College is outshooting its opponents 553 to 115 on the season

- WWU defeated then-No. 5 Columbia, 2-1, on October 10
- Shelby Scanlan scored both goals against the Cougars

What's Next
The Owls and Cougars will wait to see where and who they will play in the NAIA Women's Soccer Opening Round. The qualifiers and bracket will be revealed via live video selection show on Monday, November 13 at 11 a.m. CDT on the NAIA Website.
