FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team returns home to host Avila University on March 22nd for a non-conference single nine inning game first pitch to be thrown at 5 p.m.

About the Owls
- The Owls are 11-6 overall with an AMC record of 7-5 currently in fifth place in the AMC
- WWU recently taking the series against Central Baptist College. WWU lost game one of the three game set and rebounded by  taking the final two games
- Ryan Phillips leads the Owls pitching staff in strikeouts with 54 on the season averaging 10.13 in 48 innings pitched. Phillips also has an ERA of a 2.25 and is 20th in the nation in wins, earning five on the season
- Tyler Cunningham leads the Owls offense in batting, as he has an average of 0.309 and has collected 30 hits including seven doubles and three home runs. Cunningham also leads in RBIs with 21 raked in
- As a pitching staff, the Owls have collected 208 strikeouts compared to opponent 167 punch outs
- WWU is averaging 3.93 runs per game on the season; while allowing 4.9 runs per game

About the Eagles
- The Eagles are 12-14 overall and 2-6 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference
- They are currently on a five-game losing streak and its last win came on March 12th when they swept Grand View (Iowa)
- Chase Watt leads the offense in batting average with a 0.344 with a total of 21 hits including 18 walks, nine RBIs, one triple, three doubles, and an on base percentage of a 0.494 with 13 stolen bases
- Brandon Chandler leads the Eagles offense in RBIs as he has driven in a team-high 24 on the season
- Chandler also has the most impressive offensive stats with 13 runs, 28 hits, seven doubles and six homeruns
- Chad Butler leads the Eagles in homeruns, sending seven homeruns over the fence ranking 40th in the NAIA
- Avila holds a team ERA of 5.88 on the season and are allowing opponents to a batting average of .297.

The Owls will head to Parkville, Missouri to compete in an AMC conference three-game series against Park University on March 24th at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and will play again March 25th at noon. The Owls and Pirates series is the AMC Games of the Week.
