Men’s Basketball Host AMC Championship Tuesday

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team will host the American Midwest Conference Championship contest on Tuesday, March 7 at Anderson Arena. The Owls will take on Harris-Stowe State University at 7 p.m.
 
Winner Goes To The National Championship
- The Winner of the AMC Championship contest will automatically qualify for the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship. They will receive the second automatic berth of the AMC. The first berth went to Columbia College, the regular season champions
 
About the Owls
- William Woods enters the AMC Championship with a 22-10 overall record and have won its last six games. The 22 wins for the Owls is a single-season school record
- WWU is coming off a 73-67 victory over Missouri Baptist University in the AMC Semifinals
- On Tuesday, Trey Mitchell was named NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week. In his lone game this week he scored 31 points, third most in program history for the Owls
- WWU is averaging 77.8 points per game this season. WWU has four players averaging in double-figures on the season. Trey Mitchell leads the Owls averaging 15.5 points per game.  DaShaun Stark, Torin Washington and Brandon Vice round out the double-figure scorers averaging 13.0, 11-6, and 10.1 points per game, respectfully
- On the defensive end of the floor, the Owls are holding opponents to shoot 40.7 percent from the floor, which is the 9th best mark in the NAIA. The Owls are also only allowing 70.6 points per game the 18th best mark in the NAIA
- On the glass, the Owls are averaging 40.5 rebounds per game, which is 13th best in the nation. They are outrebounding opponents by 6.8 rebounds per game, which ranks 11th best in the NAIA
- WWU averages the 24th most assists per game on the season as they are averaging 15.4 assists per game
- William Woods is 10-4 at Anderson Arena on the season
 
About the Hornets
- Harris-Stowe enters the AMC Championship game with a record of 18-12 on the season. In the AMC Championship game, the Hornets have defeated No. 3 Central Baptist, 83-77, and No. 2 Park, 70-69, with both games coming on the road
- Harris Stowe is 8-6 on the season playing on the road. The Hornets have not lost a road contest since January 19th when they were defeated by Freed-Hardeman, 73-71

- While shooting 50.3 percent for the Year, Fletcher also leads the team in scoring averaging 14.1 points per game
- Harris-Stowe has three players averaging in double-figures, Fletcher, Craig Davila Jr. (12.9 ppg) and Trevor Roberts (12.3 ppg)
- Harris-Stowe is averaging 75.4 points per game this season while allowing teams to score 71.2 points per game
 
Previous Meetings this Season
-The Owls and Hornets have met two other times this season with the home teams winning each contest. WWU came away with a 71-62 overtime victory at Anderson Arena on December 4th. The Hornets came back and won, 76-65, over the Owls on January 28th
