Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The no. 7 William Woods University women's tennis team swept University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in their season opener Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 win on the road.

The Owls were able to take the doubles point, winning no. 1 and no. 2 doubles matches.

Ana Zavala and Zlata Shuraeva teamed up in no. 1 doubles and defeated Erin Davis and Emily Stevenson, 6-3. In no. 2 doubles, Rukshika Wijesooriya and Mireia Jordan took a 6-1 victory over Sophia Kchouk.

In no. 1 singles, Shuraeva won her match against Davis, 6-2, 6-1. Competing in no. 2 singles, Zavala defeated Stevenson, 6-0, 6-1. Marta Larraz earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Kchouk, in no. 3 singles. In no. 4 singles, Wijesooriya won 6-0, 6-2 against Emilia Gautier. Ariadna Jordan won her no. 5 match against Kelsie Hutson, 6-0, 6-0.

The Owls (1-0) return to action on Friday, Feb. 26, on the road against Midland University in Fremont, Neb. The match time is 2 p.m.
