Box Score 2 CONWAY, Ark. – The William Woods University baseball team split with Central Baptist College Friday afternoon. The Owls grabbed a 3-1 win in game one before being short-gamed 15-2 in game two.
The Owls move to 10-6 on the season with a 3-3 conference mark.
The team finishes out the four-game series with the Mustangs on Saturday, March 27, with a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
Game One
CBC struck early on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first.
The Owls evened the score in the third inning as CBC brought in
Jack Niggemeier after hitting
Chase Gibson while bases were loaded.
After two outs and a pitching change in the top of the seventh, the Owls loaded up the bases for
Easton Wallace to come up to bat. Wallace singled to right-center field, bringing home
Marcus Gonzalez and
Connor Poulson. An out on the next play ended the inning but not before the Owls took a 3-1 lead.
Logan Bexten (2-0) pitched the complete game win. He tossed four strikeouts through seven innings of work while allowing just one run to score.
Game Two
CBC plated three runs in the second on three RBI singles. They added four more in the third off a grand slam to take a 7-0 lead. They added four more again in the fourth to go up 11-0.
Erik Stewart plated the Owls' first run of game two in the top of the fifth on a wild pitch to put the score at 11-1.
In the bottom of the inning, CBC scored four more to take a 15-1 lead.
Isaiah Gibbs led off the top of the seventh with a double to left-center field. He moved to third on
Braden Lallier's single and scored on Niggemeier's single to center field. The Owls had bases loaded with just one out, but CBC's pitcher polished off the game with two strike outs, 15-2.
Owen Tripp (1-1) was credited with the loss on the mound.
