Box Score 2 CONWAY, Ark. – The William Woods University baseball team swept Central Baptist College Saturday afternoon, completing the four-game series with a 3-1 record.
The Owls held on to win game one 10-9. They then closed out the series with an 8-5 win.
The team is now 12-6 on the season with a 5-3 conference mark.
Next up for the Owls is a four-game conference series versus RV Columbia College. The first doubleheader of the series takes place in Fulton, Mo., on Friday, April 2, at 1 p.m.
Game One
The Owls plated three runs to start the game.
CBC scored one in the bottom of the first and one in the second to bring the game to 3-2.
WWU added three more in the third to take a 6-2 lead.
CBC cut the game to 6-4 in the fourth, but WWU had a big inning in the fifth to take a 10-4 lead.
CBC scored two in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the bottom of the seventh to cut the game to 10-9.
Dylan Hansen (3-1) pitched the win on the mound. He pitched 4.1 innings and tossed four strikeouts.
Max Storch (1) grabbed the save. He worked 2.0 innings and struck out two.
Isaiah Gibbs went 3-3 from the plate with three runs scored.
Game Two
WWU used a strong second inning to put up five runs early in game two. The added two more in the fifth.
CBC plated one run in each of the next three innings to cut the game to 7-3.
WWU scored one in the ninth inning.
CBC brought home two in the bottom of the inning to bring the game to 8-5 before the Owls ended it.
Ryan Long (2-2) worked 6.0 innings for the win. He tossed six strikeouts.
Andrew Fyffe (3) was credited with the save. He pitched 3.0 innings while striking out four.
