COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team lost a tough battle at Columbia College Saturday afternoon, 63-62. The loss brings the Owls to 12-11 on the season with a 6-3 record in the AMC. The Owls fall to third while CC secures second place.
The Owls return home for the next two games, starting with a Thursday evening game versus Harris-Stowe State University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Game Highlights
CC took the early lead, but back-to-back three-pointers from
Spencer Yoggerst and
Andrew Nett gave the Owls a one-point lead with 14:50 on the clock, 11-10.
The Owls connected a 7-0 run in just over a minute to take a six-point lead with 11:32 to play, 18-12.
After two and a half minutes of silence from both teams, CC began to cut the game to two with two free throws and a layup, 18-16.
A layup from
Darius Yohe put the Owls back in the lead after CC evened the score at 20-20 with 5:08 to play.
CC strung together a 7-0 run in a minute span to take a four-point lead with 1:41 on the clock, 28-24.
Yohe responded with a dominating dunk. A three from
Makenzie Fessler put the Owls back on top with 55 seconds to play, but CC hit a three to end the half with a two-point lead, 31-29.
CC held onto the lead to start the second half, extending their lead to nine just over five minutes in, 47-38.
The Owls went 6-for-6 from the foul line in their 10-2 run to take back the lead with 7:15 on the clock, 53-52. The run lasted almost four minutes.
CC very quickly went back ahead with a three and extended their lead to six with 1:24 remaining, 63-57.
The Owls cut the game to four following a CC foul and two good free throws from Fessler with 57 seconds to go, 63-59.
A three from
Mike Robinson with :06 on the clock cut the Owls' deficit to one, 63-62. A defensive rebound from Fessler following CC's missed bonus free throw allowed the team a chance to win it at the buzzer, but the Owls were unable to convert.
