Owls Defeat WBU, 65-53

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team used their strong first half to defeat Williams Baptist University Saturday afternoon, 65-53. The Owls imrpove to 13-11 on the season with a 7-3 mark in conference play.
 
The Owls host Harris-Stowe State University for their rescheduled game on Sunday, Feb. 6, at 4 p.m.

19 - Nathan Schwartze led the floor with 19 points after hitting five three-pointers.
15 - Andrew Nett drained five three-pointers for 15 points.
13 - Makenzie Fessler pulled down 13 boards with 10 coming from the defensive end.

Game Highlights
The lead bounced back-and-forth for the first six minutes with _lead changes. A layup from Darius Yohe put the Owls up by two with 13:25 on the clock, and Mike Robinson followed with a three to take a five-point lead, 16-11.
 
A minute later, Andrew Nett hit a three to give the Owls an eight-point advantage, 19-11.
 
WBU struck an 8-3 run to cut the game to three with 9:22 on the clock, but Nathan Schwartze hit a three to quickly go back up by six, 25-19.
 
The Owls strung together a 6-0 run to close out the half with an 11-point lead, 37-26.
 
Nett drained a three to start the second half, and a three from Schwartze five minutes in put the Owls up by 15, 46-31.
 
WBU cut the game to nine halfway through the second, and a WBU dunk followed by two free throws brought the game within six with seven minutes to play, 53-47.
 
The Owls responded with a 12-0 run spanning three minutes to put the Owls up by 18 with 3:30 to play, 65-47.
 
WBU scored the final six points of the game while holding the Owls scoreless in the final 3:30 to end the game with a final score of 65-53.
