FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team dominated in the second half to defeat University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy 73-61 Thursday evening. The Owls improve to 5-4 on the season and move to 1-1 in conference play.

The Owls continue their four-game home stretch with a conference match versus Hannibal-LaGrange University on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m.

The Owls had a rough start to the game as they faced a 9-0 deficit just three minutes into the game.
A jumper from
Fred Robinson broke the Owls' silence, but the struggle continued as the Owls went down by 12 halfway through the first, 21-9.
A layup from Robinson with 7:37 on the clock began a 9-0 Owls' run over a three-minute span to cut the game to three, 25-22.
With one minute remaining, an under the basket layup from
Grant Peters cut the game to one, but UHSP scored the final points of the half with a three to send the Owls into halftime trailing 38-34.
In the second half, a floater from
Nathan Schwartze with 13:36 on the clock brought the Owls within two, and
Grant Peters evened the score for the first time on the next play with an in-the-paint bucket, 46-46.
The Owls played catch up over the next three minutes, staying just one play behind UHSP.
The Owls grabbed their first lead of the game with 9:03 on the clock on a drive from
Jared Crutcher, 52-51. UHSP took the lead back shortly after, but a jumper from
Spencer Yoggerst began a 6-0 run to take a five-point lead, 59-54.
A three-point play from Schwartze followed by an in-the-paint jumper from
Darius Yohe gave the Owls a nine-point lead with four minutes to play, 65-56.
The Owls closed out the game with a 6-0 run ending with a fast break dunk from Crutcher after UHSP cut the game to six, 73-61.
