Box Score 2 JOPLIN, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team split at day one of NAIA Preview Tournament. The Owls defeated Roosevelt University on game one, 3-2, and later fell to Concordia University (Neb.), 11-2. The team improves to 1-4 on the season.
The Owls will come back to Joplin for day two of NAIA Preview Tournament tomorrow, Feb. 20. They will face University of Saint Mary (Kan.) at 10 a.m. and then Graceland University (Iowa) at 12:30 p.m.

John Cavness, "Our guys rallied behind his pitching performance and put together a solid team win against a quality opponent in Roosevelt. Zack Krause was able to carry a lot of the offensive load in game one while driving in two of the three runs."
"During game two, we got ourselves in a hole quick. Concordia controlled the rest of the game as they were super aggressive in all aspects of the game. The biggest upside for us was a quality outing from
Logan Blumhagen out of the pen putting up a few zeros for us when we needed it."
Game One
The Owls won 3-2 on game one versus Roosevelt University.
WWU took the lead in the bottom of the second inning on a single and a double, 1-0.
The Lakers quickly tied the game in the next inning.
In the beginning of the fourth inning, WWU loaded the bases and was able to take a 3-1 lead.
The Lakers scored one more on the top of the seventh.
Jared Stephens was credited with the win on the mound.
Game Two
The Owls fell 11-2 on the second game to Concordia University.
Brock Glavey took the loss on the mound
