FAYETTE, Mo. – Quentin Webert finished second in the hammer throw at the CMU Open Saturday, where the William Woods University men's track and field team kicked off their outdoor season.

Joining the Owls today were teams from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NJCAA, and the NAIA members were Central Methodist, Columbia, Culver-Stockton, Evangel, Hannibal-LaGrange, Missouri Baptist, and Missouri Valley.
 
Several athletes competed in their first outdoor meet.
 
Webert's second-place finish in the hammer moves him to fifth in the WWU Record Book with a 52.86-meter throw. He currently sits in both second and fifth place in the Record Book.
 
Daulton Melton finished fifth in the discus with a 38.95-meter toss.
 
Competing in the javelin, Zachary Knopf's 37.90-meter throw placed him seventh while also setting a new PR. He also placed seventh in the 400-Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:08.74.
 
Also competing in the 400-Meter Hurdles, Brian Winkelmann's 1:12.74 time gave him an eighth-place finish.
 
Jacob Polacek finished in sixth-place in the high jump with a 1.65-meter jump.
 
Ian Schwierjohn competed in the 800 Meter Run and the 1500 Meter Run. He finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
 
The 4x800 Meter Relay team was comprised of Jenson Starr, Brian Winkelmann, Dustin Russell, and Ian Schwierjohn. They finished fifth with a time of 9:12.02.
 
The 4x400 Meter Relay team was comprised of Rodney Cherilus, Charles Pickens, Jacob Polacek, and Zachary Knopf. The finished fourth with a 3:51.20 time.
 
Next up for the Owls will be a trip to Rolla, Mo. where they will compete at the Miner Invite on Saturday, Mar. 26 at 11 a.m.
