ROLLA, Mo. – The William Woods University men's and women's track and field team traveled four to the Missouri S&T Last Chance Meet Thursday afternoon. The four looked to either qualify for the NAIA National Championships or imrpove their "B" Standard to an "A" Standard.
Natalie Thomas threw a lifetime best, improving her PR by almost a meter. She placed third in the event with a 40.38-meter throw, coming up just .12-meter shy of the NAIA "A" Standard.
Nia Hawkins came up .6-meters shy of the NAIA "B" Standard in the long jump. She tied her PR with her second place, 5.59-meter jump.
Katie French looked to advance her mark to an "A" in the discus but was unable to. She did win the event with a 42.38-meter throw. She also competed in the hammer throw, looking to qualify. She came up short, placing second in the event with a 47.89-meter throw.
Jackson Conner competed in the 1500-meter run. He placed second with a 4:09.47 finish.
The Owls travel six to Concordia (Neb.) Friday for another last chance meet.
