FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team held on for a senior day win Saturday afternoon versus Lyon College. The Owls won 73-72, bringing them to 9-9 on the season with a 3-5 conference mark.
The Owls broke the WWU gameday blocks record as the team recorded 16 total. They set the record earlier this season with 15, breaking a 12-year-old record.

The Owls cap off their home stretch on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m. versus Missouri Baptist.

The Owls scored the first two buckets of the game while holding Lyon silent for the first three minutes.
A 10-2 run spanning a minute and a half and ending with a fast break jumper from
Jared Crutcher gave the Owls a 15-point lead with 6:26 to play, 28-13.
A jumper from
Darius Yohe with 2:17 on the clock put the Owls up by 16, but Lyon outscored the Owls 7-2 in the remaining time to cut the game to 11 heading into halftime, 34-23.
The Owls pushed their lead to 19 just three minutes in with a 10-2 run.
Lyon went on a 17-3 run over a seven-minute span to cut the game to five with just over seven minutes to play, 53-48.
Abdulh Diaby smashed down a fastbreak dunk and followed with a jumper on the next Owls' play to put the Owls up by nine with 1:40 remaining, 71-62.
Lyon scored the next seven to cut the game to just two points with 4 seconds on the clock, 71-69.
Lyon instantly fouled on the Owls' inbounds, sending Yohe to the line for two. Yohe went 2-for-2 from the line to give the Owls a four-point lead, 73-69.
In a last-ditch attempt, Lyon's Nikola Sasaroga threw up the ball from the Owls' 10-foot line at the buzzer and actually made it, cutting the game to one, 73-72.
