COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team split with Baptist Bible College in a four-game series over the weekend. The Owls won both on day one, but lost both in the second half of the series. The team moves to 5-6 on the season.
Game 1 – W, 3-2
Game 2 – W, 4-3
Game 3 – L, 11-6

DAY ONE
Game One
- William Woods wins 3-2.
- The Owls scored three in the fifth to come from behind.
- Isaiah Gibbs hit an RBI single to score Alex Wimer for the game-tying run.
- Gibbs then scored on Taylor Hopkins' RBI double for the go-ahead run.
- The Owls finished with six hits.
- Taylor Hopkins went 2-3 on the game with two doubles and one RBI.
- Pitching: Andrew Fyffe (2-0) pitched 2.2 innings and walked away with the win. He hurled 2.2 innings. Ryan Long pitched 4.1 innings and struck out nine.
Game Two
- William Woods won 4-3.
- Zach Krause hit a three-run homer just by the scoreboard in left field to take a 3-2 lead.
- BBC evened the score in the sixth.
- An error by BBC's second baseman with two runs on in the bottom of the seventh allowed Jack Niggemeier to score the winning run.
- Pitching: Tyler Abney (2-0) came in as the closer and grabbed the win. Karter Anderson pitched the first 1.2 innings, and Brock Glavey pitched 5.0 innings and struck out three.
DAY TWO
Game One
Game Two
- The Owls lost 4-3.
- The Owls scored all three of their runs in the fifth inning to go in the lead.
- BBC plated two runs in the top of the seventh to pull back ahead.
- The Owls scored their runs on a wild pitch, a Jack Niggemeier RBI fielder's choice to plate Tyler Horton and an Alex Wimer RBI sacrifice fly to score Vincent Pyeatt.
- Pitching: Tyler Abney (2-1) pitched 2.0 innings and faced 12 batters. Ian O'Malley started on the mound, pitched 4.1 innings and struck out three. Jackson Truesdell closed out the game, pitching the final two outs.
The Owls play four games at the North Region Bash hosted by Central Methodist University starting on Thursday, March 2.
