FULTON, Mo. – After almost four hours on the field, the William Woods University baseball team fell in a high scoring game to University of Saint Mary (Kan.) Wednesday afternoon, 22-19. The two teams combined for 41 runs on the day. The Owls move to 25-15 on the season.

 

• The Owls scored in all but one inning.
• Three Owls hit a home run: Blain Tuepker, Ian O'Malley and Zach Krause.
• Seven Owls hit doubles: AJ Willenburg, Isaiah Gibbs, Blain Tuepker, Ian O'Malley, Matt Hanson, Taylor Hopkins and Jack Niggemeier. 
• The Ows finished with 23 hits from 10 batters. 
• Taylor Hopkins went 4-5 from the plate with three RBI and three runs scored. 
• Ian O'Malley went 4-5 from the plate with three runs scored and two RBI.
• AJ Willenburg went 3-6 with three RBI and two runs scored.
• Blain Tuepker brought home four RBI and scored three runs. 

 
 

• Tyler Abney started on the mound and pitched 1.1 innings. He allowed three hits and three earned runs.
• Wyatt Fischer pitched 1.1 innings in relief and struck out two and allowed three hits and three runs.
• Kohl Weber (0-1) pitched 0.2 innings and allowed two hits and four earned runs.
• Andrew Fyffe pitched 1.1 innings and struck out three. He allowed seven hits and five earned runs.
• Logan Blumhagen pitched 1.2 innings, struck out two and allowed five hits and two earned runs.
• Kaleb Haley pitched the remainder of the game, struck out two and allowed four hits and two runs.

 
 
 

The Owls begin their conference series with (RV) Columbia College on Friday, April 21. They host the single, nine-inning game on Friday at 4 p.m. with the doubleheader starting at noon on Saturday. The Owls will honor their 11 seniors prior to Saturday's doubleheader.
