Owls Go 1-2 Against (RV) Columbia, Honor Seniors

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team went 1-2 with (RV) Columbia College over the weekend, winning the first game of the doubleheader series Saturday. Prior to the doubleheader, the team honored the 11 seniors.

The Owls move to 26-17 on the season with a 11-7 conference mark.
 
 
 
  • Isaiah Gibbs tied the career home runs in the top of the first with his solo home run.
  • The Owls recorded 13 hits with six RBI. Four players recorded two hits each.
  • Tyler Horton and Matt Hanson each recorded a double.
  • Pitching: Ryan Long started on the mound and pitched seven innings. He struck out six. Carson Prescott (2-1) pitched the final two innings in relief and was credited with the loss.
 
 
  • Jack Niggemeier's two run homer put the Owls up 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, leading to the win.
  • Tyler Horton hit Vincent Pyeatt home in the third for the Owls' first run of the game.
  • The Owls recorded five hits. Zach Krause hit a double.
  • Pitching: Kaleb Haley (3-1) came in as relief and grabbed the win. He pitched 2.1 innings and struck out one while allowing no hits. Brock Glavey started on the mound and pitched 4.2 innings with two strikeouts and two runs allowed.
 
 
 
 

The Owls close out the regular season on the road with a three-game conference series at Central Baptist College on Thursday, April 27. The Owls will play the doubleheader part of the series on Thursday starting at noon and finish with a single game on Friday at noon. The game will be played at the University of Central Arkansas.
