ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team fell in the final inning to Central Baptist College to start the American Midwest Conference Championship with a 5-3 loss. CBC plated four runs in the top of the ninth to take the lead.

The Owls will now face the loser of the Missouri Baptist vs. Lyon game for an elimination game at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3. The MBU vs. Lyon game takes place at 10 a.m.

- The Owls recorded six hits with three runs plated.
- Jack Niggemeier was the only multiple hit player for the Owls with two.
- Kamron Morriss' double in the fourth inning plated the Owls' second run of the game.
- Matt Hanson hit a triple in the fourth to be in scoring position for Kamron Morriss to bring him home.
- Blain Tuepker hit a RBI ground out to score Tyler Horton for the Owls' first run.
- Isaiah Gibbs recorded the Owls' third and final RBI of the game with a RBI single to score Niggemeier.
- Ryan Long (6-3) pitched 8.1 innings and was credited with the loss. He struck out 10 but allowed four earned runs.
- Carson Prescott closed out the game, facing four batters in the remaining .2 innings and striking out one.
