ST. LOUIS - After
Kevin Taylor became (RV) William Woods University's first player to win American Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, he set himself apart from the rest of the AMC as the first two-time honoree for the award. Taylor was paired with Crowley's Ridge College's Zak Brown, named offensive player of the week, for the AMC's Week 5 (Nov. 18-24) men's basketball player of the week award winners, announced the AMC Monday.
A committee of athletic communications professionals selected the weekly award winners throughout the conference from a pool of nominees submitted by each school.
Taylor helped the Owls go 1-1 on the week in its AMC-opening road trip in Arkansas; WWU kept it close in an 80-76 defeat to No. 11 Central Baptist College Thursday before beating Williams Baptist University 84-66 for its first AMC win of the season. Between those two matchups, Taylor averaged 16.5 points per game, shooting 72 percent from the field and 62 percent from deep, pulling down 17 boards and adding four steals.
