KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Tanner Gillaspy (javelin) and Myra Baker (800 meters) both moved up the 2024 AMC performance lists as William Woods sent a small contingent to the Truman State Invitational on Thursday and Friday.

"It was a good day for our small team at the Truman State Invite," said head coach Dan Schwab. "Both of our 4x100 meter relay teams and our men's 4x400 team continue to improve and stay consistent in their rankings at the top of the AMC. I was also happy to see Tanner Gillaspy, Jared Crutcher and Blaine Brodersen all improved their marks and hit top-five all-time performances. Collectively, we are in a good place in the AMC standings."

In addition to moving up the AMC performance list, Gillaspy set a new personal best in the Javelin and edged closer to the top of the WWU record book. His mark of 48.92m is just 1.1m shy of second-best all-time for the Owls and 1.2m ahead of Columbia's Grant Erisman.

Broderson exploded to a 10:07.67 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, with the time sitting 22 seconds clear of the next best mark in the conference and just four seconds off the pace of 2023 WWU Hall of Fame inductee Brent Almand's third-best mark of 10:03.67.

On the women's side, Baker moved into second in the AMC, with her time of 2:27.30 in the 800 meters less than three seconds off the pace of Missouri Baptist's Angela Ward. Her time also sits within striking distance of the WWU top five, as Hannah Rutherford currently holds the fifth-fastest mark in the event at 2:22.43.

The Owls head west to take on a strong field at the Central Missouri Mule Relays, with a noon start on Friday.
