KANSAS CITY, Mo. - William Woods University had 17 winter sports student-athletes receive Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors among its men's/women's basketball, men's/women's wrestling, men's/women's bowling and competitive cheer teams, six more honorees than last year, announced the NAIA Wednesday.
"Academics will always be the most important aspect of being a student-athlete for William Woods Athletics," William Woods Interim Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Casey Wieder said. "Increasing the number of scholar-athletes to 17 after 11 a year ago shows the hard work of our students and their focus on excelling in the classroom."
To be eligible for recognition as a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at the institution.
