#9 Owls’ Okwuosah Earns All-American, Woods’ First Honoree in 7 Years

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Adding another accolade to No. 9 William Woods University's historic season full of firsts and milestones, Francis Okwuosah became the Owls' fourth-ever NAIA All-American, as the forward received third-team honors, announced the association Monday. Okwuosah's All-American selection was WWU's first in seven years, with DaShaun Stark named an honorable mention honoree in 2017-18.

In 32 games (all starts) this season, Okwuosah, a senior from Atlanta, averaged 28.6 minutes per game and shot 51.8% (172-332) from the field, 40.2% (68-169) from 3-point range and 81.7% (58-71) at the free-throw line. He also had 14.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Two teams of 12 players each and a third team made up of 17 players comprise the three NAIA All-American teams. Okwuosah was one of three American Midwest Conference players who won an All-American award, joining Columbia College forward Collin Parker (second team) and Central Baptist College guard Sage Borbon (third team). Two of the Owls' nonconference opponents this season had an All-American, Dordt University's Lucas Lorenzen (first team) and Friends University's KJ Spiller (third team), and their NAIA Tournament second-round opponent, Keiser University, earned one, Vincent Miszkiewicz (third team).

William Woods finished the season 29-3 overall and 17-1 in the AMC - the Owls' most-ever wins and fewest-ever losses overall and in conference play. Additionally, The Woods won its first-ever AMC regular-season and tournament titles, and they broke the program's winning streak record with 24 victories, which ended with the Owls' second-round defeat in the NAIA National Tournament.
