ST. LOUIS - After recording his first college win in the javelin, William Woods University's
Isiah Craighead was rewarded for that performance by receiving American Midwest Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, announced the conference Monday. Craighead was joined by Missouri Baptist University's Shaun Roberts, track athlete of the week, as the AMC men's outdoor track and field athletes of the week for Week 3 (March 24-30).
A committee of athletic communications professionals selected the weekly award winners throughout the conference from a pool of nominees submitted by each school.
Topping the 13-competitor leaderboard at the CMU Invite Friday, Craighead, a freshman from Callaway County town Auxvasse, tossed the javelin a first-place distance of 51.35 meters (168 feet and 5 inches) to win the event by 0.83m (2-8¾).
