FULTON, Mo.- William Woods University diamond sports sweep February Student-Athlete of the Month honors with Softball's Lexi Lewis and Baseball's Kaden Kinsler earning the awards.
Lewis, a senior outfielder from Washington, Mo., had a stellar month at the plate hitting .353, knocking 12 hits, 2 doubles, and 2 triples while swiping five bags in the month. The leadoff hitter for the Owls has been stellar defensively as well with a perfect fielding percentage.
Kinsler, a junior from Elsberry, Mo., has already etched his name throughout the William Woods record book, leading in categories such as triples in a season, triples in a career, and sits within striking distance of homeruns in a career. The centerfielder dominated at the plate for the month of February to the tune of a .333 average, while notching 12 hits. Six of those 12 hits went for extra bases, including three round-trippers. Kinsler also added 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored in the month.
William Woods University Student-Athlete of the Month Honors are awarded to the student-athletes who received the most votes. Each month, athletes are nominated by faculty, staff and school personnel. These nominees are placed into the voting system and are selected based on the results of a panel of seven senior members of the athletic department.
