Box Score 2 CLINTON, Iowa.—The William Woods University volleyball team finished in seventh place overall at the Ashford University Invitational, as the Owls fell to Cardinal Stritch in four sets (25-20, 15-25, 25-23, 25-21), but responded with a three set (25-17, 25-23, 25-21) win over Central Methodist University in the nightcap.
Cardinal Stritch 3 William Woods 1 The Owls (8-8), fell in the first set against the Wolves 25-20, but responded with a 25-15 win in the second set, evening up the match 1-1. Cardinal Stritch (2-9), however, took sets three and four, winning the match 25-23 and 25-21.

Coming into the outing, senior
Kristen Bauer had 1,163 career kills and by the end of the game, she totaled 14, which gave her 1,177 in her career, making her the all-time leader program history in kills. Bauer was able to surpass Lauren Fleming, who held the record since 2011, with 1,173 kills.

Abbi McKnelly was second on the team with 12 kills, while freshman setter
Brittney Engelbrecht led the Owls with 46 assists and contributed 15 digs.

The Owls totaled 124 digs defensively and were led by senior libero
Abbie O'Mara's season-high 44 digs. Junior
Emily Becker was second on the team with 18 digs, while
McKenna Hisel added 16 and freshman
Abby Ferguson contributed 14.

William Woods 3 Central Methodist University 0This was the second meeting on the season between the Owls and Eagles (7-7), as in its previous outing, the Owls won in a five set (25-11, 21-25, 18-25, 27-25, 15-10) thriller.

On Saturday, WWU dominated with an impressive three set (25-17, 25-23, 25-21) sweep. The Owls were led by freshman McKnelly, totaling 16 kills and an attack percentage of .500, while adding eight digs. Engelbrecht collected her 13
th double-double on the season, having 42 assists and tied for the team-lead in digs (17), with O'Mara. Becker also reached the double-figure plateau for the third straight game in digs, earning 15.

The Owls will return to action on September 19
th in its American Midwest Conference opener against Williams Baptist College. First-serve is set for 7 p.m.
