Nan Downey earns a Hall of Fame selection after a successful four-year career, 1982-85, with the Owls softball team. During her time as an Owl, she was the first NAIA All-American Softball player for WWU.

Downey was a three time NAIA All-American, including a two time first team selection and one second team honor. Downey had a stellar career for the Owls as she still ranks in the top five in career batting average (.391), career slugging percentage (.621), career on base percentage (.439) and triples (23). She played in 137 career games for the Owls and scored 107 runs, 111 run’s batted in, 25 doubles, and eight home runs at the plate for the Owls. Downey, also pitched 56 innings for the William Woods and had an 8-1 career record with 24 strikeouts and an 0.75 earned run average.
